Christmas party at work

Here are some pictures I took last night at the Christmas party at work. Connie, John, Mili and Novalee all came and we had food and then there was our gift exchange, the Dirty Santa. When you do the Dirty Santa gift exchange basically you bring a gift and pick numbers out of a hat (or cup or whatever) and the first person chooses a gift. The next person then can either choose a gift or take the gift of a person that chose before them. Basically it behooves you to choose last. Keep in mind that none of the presents are opened until everybody has chosen so that way you don't know what gift you are taking unless you happened to bring it yourself.

So I had John choose a gift for me and he of course picked the one that I had bought. Two people came up and tried to take the gift but he covered it up and told them "No that's mine." I tried explaining to him that the game is played that way and we got to choose another gift but he wasn't having that. Then Paolo saw that John had turned away so he took the gift and when John turned around his bottom lip was quivering and he walked over to my desk and put his head down and started to cry. Of course everyone started telling Paolo that he made him cry so he quickly gave back the gift because nobody wants to make a child cry right?

The kicker is after everything was done and John saw Paolo's gift he agreed to trade him for it. Paolo had a windshield cleaning kit complete with a squeegee and since we have one at the house that John likes to use on our mirrors he loved it. All of that drama only for him to turn around and trade it anyway.

After this a lady named Janice came into the room and told John that she had found two gift bags by the door for John and Novalee that said they were from Santa. Novalee got a cute stuffed animal that she held onto tightly. John saw a bag of M&Ms on top of his and that's all he cared about until I told him that there was something else in the bag and he pulled out a tow truck. It was very nice of her to do that and everybody raved over how much John has grown and how cute Novalee is. It ended up being a pretty good night until I had to start working again.
