Johnny and Santa

This was the first year we were able to get Johnny to sit on Santa's lap without throwing a crying fit. He's growing up too fast for me.

Our Not So Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner

For Thanksgiving we decided to stay home and Connie made meatloaf for the first time. We also had mashed potatoes, rice and mixed veggies. John however wanted fish instead of meatloaf. The video below shows his explanation of our not so traditional dinner. While eating I skipped through the movie Rec 2 while telling Connie that I didn't think we could watch it. Just as I stopped it a character said "Puta mierda!" which is not nice language. John immediately said in a very clear voice "Puta mierda is a bad word." I turned the movie off. We asked him where he had heard that from but of course he cannot remember. I'm just thankful he didn't repeat it in church.

A Birthday Party For Don?

Last Saturday marked only the 2nd birthday party for me since Connie and I have been married. I'm just not the party kind of person, I tend to shy away from celebrations in general. But I decided to use it as an excuse to get some people together. I invited all of the families that I home teach from church as well as my teaching companion. Unfortunately only one of them came. Still, we had other friends come and I grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and made chili (which wasn't ready until after everybody left). The joke of the night was that Almir would blow out my candle. You see, his sister Adela blew out John's candle on his birthday. Anyway, we had a good time so I guess I'll schedule the next party in about 5 more years.

A Visit To Pumpkin Town

Last Saturday after Johnny's piano class we were driving and I came across Pumpkin Town, so named because they are selling pumpkins there but they had quite a few things for kids. Johnny made a friend (he was at least two or three years older but only a few inches taller) and they tried to navigate the pumpkin field as best they could. He had a good time but the sun was so bright I couldn't really see if my phone was getting the picture or not and that's why you see my finger, but only briefly.

Encounter With A Keyboard

Before we went to the Halloween store we had stopped at Sams to get a few things and as we turned a corner on an aisle we came across 2 keyboards. Johnny got on one and I got on the other. Connie eventually stopped talking with us and went to do other things and came back several times but we were both too busy playing with them. Eventually she had to drag us away. They made all sorts of interesting noises, sound effects, etc and we were absorbed. Perhaps for his birthday I can, I mean he can get one to practice on.

Halloween is coming............

We went to a Halloween store so that Connie could look at a few things and Johnny ended up trying on a few hats.................then he decided he no longer wanted to be a cowboy and now wants to be a police officer. He stuck with that and now has his costume.

Summer Videos II

In these videos Johnny has lost his shadow and after striking out on his own he takes up with a young lady.

Summer Videos

Here's a few videos from earlier in the summer. Connie took John to a park and as he rode his bike around he acquired a shadow. A little boy decided to follow him and do everything that he did, well, at least he tried to do everything.

Johnny The School Teacher

A short time ago after coming home from school Johnny started playing school here at home. He is the teacher and his stuffed animals are the students. Connie is the assistant. As you can see he gets very involved in this. He's had Connie take over the class before while he went to the principal's office to talk with the mother of Burrito because he was bothering Pooh. It's something to see, believe me. In this video he is using his laptop to show something in the imaginary screen and he is using the box that holds glue as his printer, just in case you have trouble following what he says.

After The Show

After the concert there was a room opened up that had activities for the children like making a milagros and the one he gravitated to at the end where you were able to look at rocks and things with magnifying glasses. Johnny's hurt feelings were forgotten entirely as he immersed himself in these activities. Grupo Fantasma actually had another set to play (tickets weere only $10 each) but we had to leave since I had an appointment to go home teach. I really wish that I had been able to see both sets and that Connie had come with us because I know she would have enjoyed it. Maybe next time.
