More random thoughts about John

Here are a few more notes to keep you updated on all that is John. He’s in the phase of wearing our shoes and walking around in them which is pretty cute to see. Last Sunday he took a fall from a slide face first and scratched up his cheek and forehead. Connie freaked out about it but in a few days you won’t even be able to tell that it happened. He’s a tough kid and after a nap he had already out it behind him. It was my fault because I tried to catch him from the side instead of standing in front of the slide. Needless to say that won’t be happening again. He is saying new words all the time now. Yesterday he told our cat Oliver “Food. Here!” after I had put food in her dish and she didn’t come over immediately. The weather was nice for quite a few days and we tried to go outside as much as possible. Yesterday it was a bit cold after being 78 degrees on Tuesday but today when I awoke it was snowing which turned into sleet which went away and the temperature climbed into the 40s. That’s Oklahoma for you. Don’t like the weather? Stick around, it’ll change.

Connie has had the camera hidden but hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able upload some pictures and a video that I took a few weeks ago. John’s favorite cartoon is Spongebob whom he calls Bunbob. Mostly he likes the sing along with the theme song but he also likes the theme songs for Jimmy Neutron and The Secret Show. The boy loves his music. He is also starting to climb into and out of his car seat without much help from me. Also I took him to see a Native American stomp dance at the library thinking that he would enjoy it but mostly he just climbed up and down the stairs. That’s all for now.

Random thoughts

I just got home from work and went into our bedroom where Connie is asleep with our son John. As I checked on them Connie started talking and instantly I was amused. I had temporarily forgotten that while asleep she will start talking and at first you may think that she is talking directly to you however upon a closer review you will discover that what she is saying actually makes no sense whatsoever. At first she said something about taking off all of the covers for her and then segued into something about a customer calling and wanting her internet that she had before but the exact one and could I do that for her? If you can make sense of it be my guest and explain it to me.

John has acquired a habit as of late that I really wish he hadn't because it reflects poorly on me, no matter how funny it is to see him do it. Whenever I or Connie honk our horn or another driver honks theirs he starts yelling and throwing his arms around gesticulating wildly. Today I honked the horn because a car was too far over into my lane and John started yelling and as I chanced a look back at him after the car had gone by I couldn't help but laugh at his facial expressions. He was so intent and had such a very serious look on his face. It was priceless even though it shows where I need to be growing and maturing even at my age if only to be a better influence on him.

Speaking of John, his vocabulary is growing daily. He keeps repeating words that we say and shows a hunger to improve his communication skills. Coupled with what I just had to say about horns honking it makes me very aware that I had better start to watch what I say very carefully before he chooses to repeat something that I'd rather wish I never said, at a very inopportune moment. He is a delight and as soon as I can find what Connie did with the camera I will post new pictures and video of him.
